About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Lead Developer to take ownership of gameplay architecture, AI systems, and multiplayer readiness for Rezium, a sci-fi base-building strategy game. This is a critical leadership role, requiring both technical expertise and the ability to manage a team. As the technical backbone of the team, you will develop core mechanics, ensure code quality, and optimize performance.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and develop the core base-building, mining, and resource management systems in Unreal Engine 5.

  • Ensure scalable, modular game systems with clean, well-documented C++ and Blueprint code.

  • Implement AI mechanics (enemy scavenger raids, NPC behaviors) using Behavior Trees & pathfinding systems.

  • Prepare the codebase for future multiplayer integration (even if PvP comes later).

  • Lead and manage Unreal developers, reviewing code and providing technical guidance.

  • Optimize game performance (profiling, reducing CPU/GPU overhead, improving frame rates).

  • Collaborate with designers and artists to ensure gameplay mechanics align with game vision.

 

Selection Criteria 

  • 5+ years in game development, with at least 2+ years in Unreal Engine 5 (or UE4).

  • Mastery of Unreal Blueprints & C++ (ability to build scalable gameplay systems).

  • Experience developing snap-grid building mechanics for RTS, city builders, or base-building games.

  • Strong AI programming skills – experience with Behavior Trees, NavMesh, and AI pathfinding.

  • Multiplayer networking experience – understands replication, server-client models (even if PvP is a future feature).

  • Shipped at least 1 game in a lead or senior role with strong base-building mechanics.

  • Strong debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning experience for Unreal Engine.

  • Experience managing teams, ensuring clean, scalable, and well-structured code.
    Fluent in English (clear communication is key).

 

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in procedural level generation.

  • Background in economy balancing and resource management systems.

  • Familiarity with Steam, Epic Games Store, or other PC game publishing platforms.

  • Passion for sci-fi strategy & base-building games.
